His music has evolved since he first came on the music scene in 2014, but one thing will never change for this artist professionally known as Wheel – his upbeat lyrics will never cease to give his listeners inspiration, hope, excitement, and life.
Atlanta born and raised, Clarence Davenport has a steady growing fanbase in his hometown and his first EP “No Excuses: Vol 1” was welcomed with open arms two years ago. He’s well-versed in club music, R&B, hard rap and Soul – and everything in between. Today, the self-taught music artist and producer is still pumping out incredible beats that the clubs love to hear – this month releasing his hit single “Settle It.” Another called “No Soap or Suds” will quickly follow on the digital platforms soon. He said he plans to continue to produce fresh lyrics with great melodies, and eventually remaster his first EP.
“It’ll be good to give people an up-to-date sound for that album because I understand the process better and what it takes to make better music,” Wheel said. “I want people to see and hear my versatility because before now I haven’t expressed my pain. I’m anxious to show people the evolution of my music – it’s my form of art because I can express my trials and tribulations, my ups and downs, in so many ways. Once you hear it, release it on a beat, it can be so soothing, so fun, so exciting – so many things – but ultimately it’s a way to get my pain out.”
At the age of 20, this talented young man suffered a gunshot wound that left him in a wheelchair. Most young musicians would have given up on a future in music … but he didn’t. He dubbed himself Wheel, and started producing lyrics and sounds that captured people’s hearts and perked ears in the music industry.
“I’ve been shot, misled before, I’ve been betrayed, I’ve been used, taken advantage of – those are traumas I’ve been through,” Wheel said. “Those are some things I’ve had to live with, learn from, and move past. And I’ve been able to get through it with my music, and without doing something stupid. I want people to get enjoyment and satisfaction from my sound, while also reaching those who can relate. It’s my hope that they get hope.”
