Young M.A. is making her rounds in 2020. From guest appearing on Eminem’s surprise album, to then interviewing with Rihanna for the “Rihannazine” project, the Brooklyn rapper is making sure she leaves her mark on the industry, despite remaining independent.
The 27-year-old has been busy dropping visuals this past week for her tracks “Numb” and “Bipolar.” Now, she is back with her third offering “Sober Thoughts” from her well received “Herstory in The Making” debut album.
The visual shows the rapper seated on a couch in a dimly lit living room, a bottle of alcohol placed temptingly in front of her before the camera switches to passionate solo performance scenes in a black and white setting. Singer Max YB croons the hook in an identical black and white background.
M.A. opens up about depression, as well as past alcohol dependency, that she has since kicked, which has resulted in stunning weight loss, rapping, “depressional phase, my tunnel vision startin’ to fade/I started to marry my thoughts, already engaged/not knowing my next move had me going insane/depending on alcohol to get me over the pain.”
