The posthumous video for the XXXTentacion single, “Hot Gyal” has arrived and fans are not too pleased with the provocative visual.
The carribean inspired “Hot Gyal,” which features Tory Lanez and Mavado, appear to many as a far stray from the late rappers traditional style of alternative fused emo-rap. The single is from his final posthumous album, “Bad Vibes Forever,” which has also been met with scrutiny for not being able to capture the artistry of X, but rather, a mix of sloppily arranged songs in hopes of salvaging whatever remains of unreleased recordings and attaching them with features that seemingly do not make much sense.
The video, directed by X’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, delivers an exotic wonderland of beautiful, yet scantily clothed women, an aspect that fans are not used to seeing in X videos, as his visuals rarely called for video vixens. X nor his likeness are featured much throughout the video, nor the song for that matter, which would have been more fitting as just a Tory and Mavado collab.
Though the video has been viewed over one million times on Youtube, there is a whomping 19k dislikes and another 19k comments on the video, nearly all of which are expressing disappointment in the lack of X’s traditional creative style being present in the video. You be the judge.
