The Weeknd is keeping busy with the rollout for his highly anticipated forthcoming album, After Hours that will arrive on March 20th. The Toronto native has unleashed yet another stunning visual, this time a short film for the album’s title track, directed by Anton Tammi.
The five-minute clip opens with the dark singer on the set of late night’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” After his performance of “Blinding Lights,” he is shown backstage with a bloodied and bandaged nose and his now signature red blazer before roaming the streets of LA. The singer begins to hallucinate as he walks through the subway, the track’s instrumental looping in the background. In the final scene, he rides an elevator with a couple before the doors close and bone chilling screams are heard. The screen then fades to red, leaving faith yearning for more from the deranged musician.
After Hours is gearing up to be one of Weeknd’s most creative and thought provoking projects to date. Serving as the follow-up to his 2016 chart topping, Starboy, the album is already on a path to immense commercial success, with Hot 100 hits “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights,” which happens to be his seventh No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart, the most for any artist.
The Weeknd will kick off his 62-date global tour on June 11th alongside Sabrina Claudio and Don Toliver in the U.S. and 88GLAM.
