Kanye West has dropped a powerful new single titled “Wash Us in the Blood,” along with the stunning visual for the track, which features the disturbing footage of Ahmaud Arbery on the day that he was murdered.
“They don’t want Kanye to be Kanye / They wanna sign a fake Kanye / They tryna sign a calm Ye,” he raps. “Wash us in the blood / Whole life being thugs / No choice, sellin’ drugs / Genocide, what it does / Mass incarc, what it does / ‘Cause a cause, what it does / ‘Nother life bein’ lost,” Ye raps over the BoogzDaBeast, Ronny J, FNZ, and Dem Jointz co-produced track.
The Arthur Jafa video features various clips of police brutality protests, a dancing Breonna Taylor, Kanye’s own live performances and the gut wrenching partial footage of Ahmaud Arbery running from his attackers on that fateful February afternoon moments before he was killed.
“Wash Us in the Blood” serves as Yeezy’s first single since 2019’s gospel album Jesus Is King, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
