Trey Songz broke the internet when he revealed photos of his son’s mother, Caro Colon, on Instagram after a year of keeping her identity under wraps in an effort to keep her out of the spotlight. During an Instagram interview with Devin Steel, the “Love Lost” singer opened up about why he chooses to respect Caro’s privacy in the age where celebrities are expected to disclose their personal lives with fans.
“It’s really a sense of letting go of the control that you have when you let yourself be that vulnerable. You know, for me, I know my fans are happy for me. I know that in the beginning, it was very much like, ‘Who’s the mother?’ That’s one thing I don’t like about sharing my business.”
While the proud papa has posted photos of 1-year-old Noah across his social media platforms, he has been slow to post Caro in an effort to protect her from the scrutiny that was sure to follow.
“The moment that you allow a passing comment by someone you don’t know to affect you and f*ck up your whole day or have your heart, that’s when you’re too far gone. And that’s one of the reasons I took a break off Instagram. Because Instagram is a place where I think people are too much in concern of what other people are doing.”
