Introduce yourself to our readers, let them know your name and where you’re from

My name is John Williams, also known as Tjé (artist name)! I am an inspiring artist out of the Orlando/Tampa area. I originally grew up in Philadelphia, but moved to Florida when I was 10.

Why did you start to do music?

Music is something that has always attracted me since I was a baby. My dad used to play Bob Marley all the time, and it would watch his concerts and then give my own mini concert to family members emulating bobs exact moves and vocal tones. Music just helps so many connect to others, express their emotions and move their bodies. I want to connect with people on this level and know that my music brings about all these emotions.

Have you had another career that wasn’t in the music industry?

Right know I am in college at the University of South Florida (Tampa). I am a biomedical science major currently in my senior year. My plan is to go into medical school with the hopes of one day becoming a dermatologist. My dad and grandfather are both orthopedic surgeons so medicine just comes naturally to me.

If you could get advice from any artist in the industry, who would it be and why?

I would love to get advice from Justin Bieber, he is my favorite artist and my biggest musical inspiration. He has been through the ups and down in the industry and come out on top every time. He pushes the boundaries every time he releases and finds new ways to reinvent himself.

What or who influences your music?

Everyday emotional experiences are what drive my lyrics the most, however my beat selection is typically influenced by my favorite artists such as Bieber, Drake, Travis Scott, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd and MJ.

What’s the process of creating music for you?

Normally I just go on YouTube and listen to beats for hours and hours. I have a few producers that I subscribe to and love their style. I start with humming and try to come up with hooks first and after that I just figure out the rest of the lyrics after the hook guides the direction of the song.

What differentiates you from other artists?

I think one big thing that I hang my hat on is my willingness to jump into multiple genres. I want to make all different types of songs and explore new genres and styles and challenge myself. I listen to a lot of international artists so I have a good grasp of what is popular around the world and I want to tap into that.

Have you ever released an album?

No, this is my first album release ever. I am super excited and put a lot of thought into visuals, color scheme, aesthetics that all tie into the music. I want the album to be an experience and something you can envision.

Tell our readers what to look out for next from you?

This is “ Emotions Vol 1” so there will be a second volume coming early next year. That album is already in the works and it is a lot darker. The beats are darker, the lyrics are a little more honest and deep, speaking about specific situations. You can expect to hear music that draws a lot of inspiration from The Weeknd, Trav and Don Toliver.

Are you currently on any tours or have any future shows booked?

Nothing yet but that is the plan for the future so make sure to follow me and stay updated!

How can promoters looking to book you get in contact with you?

Through my various social media platforms but especially my Instagram page @ tjwilli.official

What do you hope to get out of your involvement in the music industry?

I just want to connect with as many people worldwide and make a song for everyone! If I can help change someone’s day or life that all I can ask for.
