The Rock is making a $15 million investment in the ownership of XFL, an American football league.
XFL was initially owned by WWE owner Vince McMahon, where The Rock began his very successful wrestling career. As a result of the pandemic, the XFL was going out of business, leaving Vince McMahon to look for a potential buyer, and The Rock has stepped in to become its new owner.
The Rock has gone from one of the most beloved WWE Superstars of all-time to a box-office sensation and one of the highest-paid actors of the 21st century, alongside his business partner and ex-wife, Dany Garcia. According to The Source, the two have decided to collaborate with Gerry Cardinale, the founder of RedBird Capital Partners, LLC. to invest $15 million to buy the league.
Dany Garcia will be recognized as a stakeholder, and Redbird will be able to connect with players in the NFL. The Rock said, “The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that’s rooted deeply in two things – my passion for the game and my desire always to take care of the fans.”
