When it comes to investigative journaling, blogging, and providing entertainment to a massive, multi-state audience, LaDerrius “Tukay” Barksdale has been deemed the pioneer of podcasting. From trendsetting around his high school to being one of the most influential trailblazers from his hometown, Tukay always seemed to know that he would do and obtain things that none of his childhood peers could imagine. This pandemic birthed geniuses, and Tukay was one of those geniuses who “seized the opportunity to grow himself personally as well as capitalized on his natural gift of gab”, Tukay says.
The podcast “Talks with Tukay” premiered in March of 2020 and immediately attracted a slew of viewers from states like Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, California, and Hawaii. The “Talks With Tukay” podcast has been noted for its reliability, excitement, and drama; and has featured guests like Pimpin_rooster, Richifontane, and Lorenzo Tate. Tukay has managed to create a hilarious yet consoling virtual space for his viewers to come and “Tell their story”, and to receive the insight they need to progress in life. Tukay has even raised money during his live streams to donate to the show’s participants. Some of the viewers’ comments have referred to Tukay as “Mo’prah”, the male Oprah, and some viewers are not so fond of Tukay’s sense of humor or his unorthodox approach to bringing local injustices to the light. However, he has confirmed that he will continue to serve those individuals that tune into his podcast and he does not have a desire to fight back with trolls. LaDerrius “Tukay” Barksdale’s daily duties may consist of being an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a pioneer in entertainment. But Tukay is also a devoted husband and a great dad to two beautiful girls. Listeners can tune into Tukay’s podcast “Talks With Tukay” on Youtube, Apple Music, Spotify, and other major streaming outlets.
