In a shocking turn of events, Inner City Press is reporting that there is a chance of rapper turned federal informant Tekashi 6ix9ine being released from prison as early as today.

Judge Paul Engelmayer, who is presiding over Tekashi 6ix9ine’s case is seemingly willing to grant the rapper’s release from prison later today, stating that he is “inclined” to grant him compassionate relief.”

Inner City Press, who has continuously provided live courtroom updates on the case for months, tweeted this morning photos of court documents detailing how after the Bureau of Prisons originally denied 6ix9ine’s release this week, a second appeal was filed and the Court intends to grant it. The first appeal by the rapper was reportedly turned down because he had not consulted with the Bureau of Prisons. After being denied by the BOP, the Judge is now inclined to release 6ix9ine pending the US Attorney’s official opposition of the order.

“The Court directs that the Government respond by 5 pm. The parties are advised that, provided the Court has authority to grant the relief requested by defense counsel, the Court intends to do so.” the online investigative publication reports.

The world will just have to wait and see what happens with the embattled rapper later on today. Until then, check out Inner City Press tweets below, detailing the likely release.
