Viral Florida rapper and close friend of Yung Miami, Saucy Santana, was shot early Wednesday morning after leaving a Miami strip club.
According to reports, Santana and two other friends were traveling in a white Honda sedan headed toward the northbound Interstate 95 ramp at Miami Gardens Drive after leaving The Office Gentlemen’s Club. That is when a white Chevrolet sedan pulled up next to their vehicle and someone inside began shooting inside the Honda. All three passengers were struck by gunfire, with Santana being shot in the shoulder. The men were taken to Aventura Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“I’m lucky, blessed to be alive, I got shot in the top of my shoulder, you was aiming at my face or at my head, that’s an instant kill.” Santana told NBC 6.
While some news outlets have called the drive-by “random”, Santana believes that the attack was the direct result of attention that he was receiving in the nightclub, as well as homophobia from men who were present in the club.
“Homophobia is still very very real.” He told TMZ, while still in the hospital. “It’s cruel, people still have this hate towards gays and stuff like that.”
Saucy Santana first gained popularity for his entertaining live streams on Instagram with fellow Florida rapper, Yung Miami, where the two would go back and forth roasting one another. After quickly accumulating a large following, Santana released his popular single “Walk Em Like A Dog”, which has over 3 million views on Youtube. His follow-up, “Material Girl” is also gaining traction, with a video set to be released soon.
