Tribal Music Group has been making big waves in the trap music scene. Although they specialize in EDM trap music, a fairly niche subgenre of hip hop infuzed with EDM influences, they already reach an impressive 2 million listeners every day, introducing these listeners  to many new artists. Such a massive following can only mean one thing: Tribal Music Group is one of the best emerging record labels for trap music artists.

Background of Tribal Trap Music Group

Tribal Trap was founded in 2014 due to the founder’s love affair with trap music. Since 2013, he had been running a YouTube channel to share new trap music, which quickly amassed some 350k followers. Not bad for a project produced in his bedroom somewhere in The Netherlands.

Once he started Tribal Trap in 2014, Stan Wittenberg, then just 16 years old, began setting Tribal Trap up as a record label to be reckoned with. First, he gave the business a strong foothold in YouTube and Spotify, where the brand has since amassed close to a million daily listeners and well over a million cumulative followers. These users spurred Wittenberg on to start expanding early in 2019.

This desire to grow saw Tribal Trap turn into Tribal Music Group, an umbrella for multiple large brands and labels under Wittenberg’s lead. Since then, they have gone from strength to strength as they grew and gained notoriety in the music industry.

The Phenomenal Growth of Tribal Trap

Tribal Music Group has doubled its daily listeners from 1 million to 2 million in just two short years. During the pandemic, they even managed to experience steady growth. In the 2019-2020 period, the company grew by as much as 60%, a figure that was vastly helped by the many record labels that were added to their label group.

Some of the big brands they attracted included Clout.nu, an experimental label exploring ethnic, Asian, and Middle Eastern trap music styles. Since last year, they have been joined by Diverge Records, a house label with a tech and bass specialty that focuses on live events inside Amsterdam city.

As well as attracting growth through new acquisitions and partnerships, Tribal Music Group has brought success to their door through the artists they choose to work with. For example, German artist 2Scratch, whose Spotify now has well over 2,000,000 monthly listeners, started his career at Tribal Trap. Other notable acts include Skan, who has 900,000 monthly listeners, as well many more artists such as M.I.M.E, Drama B, and Lox Chatterbox among others.

What’s Next for Tribal Trap?

This is one label that has more momentum than a freight train. In the next few months, their acquisition of the Trap Music Movement and their 195K followers will be fully realized. With yet another label joining their already substantial ranks, Tribal Music Group is becoming a force to be reckoned with. All that remains to be seen is who they sign up next.
