Nocturnal is an artist who definitely has something to say in his music. He’s a musician who has a conscious and lyrical style of rapping that displays his storytelling skills, and ability to deliver fire wordplay in every track he releases. He recently released a new track called “Run It Up,” accompanied by a visual, which expresses how Nocturnal feels towards the music industry for neglecting artists and then trying to change them into something they’re not.
Like all of Nocturnal’s music, he gets busy on this track demonstrating his flow and lyricism. This time, he gets personal and discusses the experience of being neglected by industry labels.
“This track is inspired from feeling like I am overlooked by the labels,” Nocturnal said in a recent interview. “In the video it shows a crew threatening me, trying to change me into one of them, meaning the industry trends. This video illustrates when the label’s finally do give me a chance they are going to try to change my sound and focus more on radio success than the art.”
He conveys his dissatisfaction with being neglected in the freshly released song “Run It Up.” And it’s difficult to ignore him. Nocturnal is a rapper with a lot of potential, and it’s clear to see that audiences feel the same way.
The visual compliments the song perfectly, depicting Nocturnal as a prisoner, incarcerated from his work. As Nocturnal gets indoctrinated into being another industrial clone, the imagery is fascinating as he takes you on a hypnotic metamorphosis.
As an artist, Nocturnal has proved that, despite feeling neglected by labels, he has the perseverance, talent, and passion to build a successful rap career.
The message he hopes audiences take away from his music is to “Become the best version of yourself, and stop caring what society thinks of you.”
