Nicki Minaj‘s husband is making a smart move in regards to his recent charges.
According to court docs, Kenneth Petty has agreed to plead guilty to one count of failing to register as a sex offender in exchange for a lighter sentence.
With the plea, prosecutors promise to seek a sentence closer to the mandatory minimum sentence, which is 5 years of supervised release. Though, the decision is ultimately up to the judge, the mandatory minimum is a huge difference from the maximum sentence of 10 years behind bars Kenneth could’ve faced with lifetime supervised release had he not copped the plea.
Kenneth may still face some time behind bars depending on how the judge analyzes his criminal history. These charges stemming from a 1995 New York conviction for first-degree attempted rape where Petty failed to register with local authorities as a sex offender.
