New Orleans Artist Vance Hardcore Talks Exclusively with HHW

Gabriel Jones professionally known as Vance Hardcore and I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana 

Why did you start to do music?

After Katrina I was separated from a lot of my hometown friends and I didn’t really have a way to hang out with them. They upload tracks to online and I wanted to compete with them because that was the very point of rapping In my mind. So I started making music to out do and impress my friends.

When did you know that it was actually going to be your career?

I knew I was cut out for it after a few open mics and shows. I noticed the reactions I was getting from the local scene and figured that I could do it not only locally but globally.

If you could get advice from any artist in the industry, who would it be and why?

Kanye West, because from my point of view he’s done it all and I want to do the same over time in this game.

What or who influences your music?

As cliche as it sounds, my life is my influence. I’ve been blessed with a lot of once in a lifetime experiences and can’t wait for what’s in store ahead.

Has anyone helped you or guided you in getting your foot in the industry?

Nobody held my hand in this ever, I’ve had to prove myself since then beginning in order to get anything and I prefer it that way. But there’s definitely a few people I’ve picked up some solid gems up from over the years, they know who they are.

How many albums do you have placements on?

Currently I’m placed on only my albums, definitely looking forward to working with other artists so though.

What differentiates you from other artist?

I’d have to say my work ethic more than anything, I think the rest just comes from putting in the time and effort.

A place in its history that shows I came in and had a real impact on up and coming artists.
