Kid Cudi has dropped his first single in nearly two years, after teasing the track on Instagram Live last week.

In “Leader of the Delinquents,” he raps, “Hello friends, it’s Cudder again / Gotta smack ’em with some shit before the world ends,” over the Dot Da Genius-produced track, which he performed live as far back as 2012.

Joined by Jade Smith, the Cleveland rapper explained to viewers during his IG livestream, “I just feel like putting something out to the world. And giving you guys something to relax to and vibe to.”

“Leader of the Delinquents,” is the rapper’s first release since his 2018 collaborative album with Kanye West,  Kids See Ghosts. However, the track is his first solo offering since 2016’s Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’.

Cudi is putting the finishing touches on his seventh studio album, Entergalactic, which is inspired by his forthcoming animated adult music series alongside “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris. The series will debut on Netflix later this year.

“My next album will be the music for the first season of the show, and the music will narrate the story,” Cudi revealed to Complex. “So a lot of the songs aren’t really from the Scott perspective; they’re from the perspective of the character.”

“I’m trying my hardest to still introduce new sounds and push the envelope, sonically. So it’s still gonna be like everything that people love about Kid Cudi music. The only difference is that it’s gonna be told from a different perspective.” He revealed about his upcoming music.

During his Friday live, he also told fans that he had much in store over the next few weeks, a welcome announcement from the rapper who doesn’t mind going several years without a record on the charts.

“A lot of exciting things coming up soon…in the next couple weeks, actually. So stay tuned. A lot of awesome shit.”

Needless to say, quarantine orders are not stopping King Wizard from dropping heat.
