One of New Orleans’ most powerful lyricists returns today with some welcomed new heat.

On Friday, Kevin Gates dropped “Still Hold Up,” a look into his past trials and tribulations, which includes past drug addiction and jail stints. Nevertheless, the 34-year-old does not shy away from the turmoil that molded him into the man, husband, father and artist that he is today.

“Nominated for the GRAMMYs, I went back to jail / Racist judge found me guilty, sent me back to Hell” Gates raps.

Per usual, Kevin Gates never disappoints.
