As promised, Brandy has dropped her new single along with Chance the Rapper.
“Baby Mama” is the singer’s first single since last September’s “Freedom Rings.” However, she has not dropped an album in seven years. Now, as she readies her next project, Brandy lends her vocals to the Hit-Boy produced bop, which pays homage to single mothers everywhere.
“Every day I breathe it’s for my little mama / I’m every woman and a baby mama,” Brandy sings along with Chance who also pays tribute to independent women.
“It has such a message. It’s celebrating mothers out there who are out there doing their best for their children and striving in their independence, in their strength, in their power. I just wanted to come out with a powerful message like that,” Brandy revealed to SiriusXM’s “Laura Coates Show.”
Brandy also opened up about her feelings towards her upcoming album, which she says she has put much love into.
“I’ve dedicated the last couple years of my life to my new music, my new project,” she said. “It’s taken me a while, but I’m so happy about the focus and the work ethic that I’ve put into this project. I’m really proud of it and I finally feel ready to present it to the world.”
