It was only a matter of time. August Alsina has officially defined what it means to be in an “entanglement,” in a new single with Rick Ross called, “Entanglements.”
The R&B singer-songwriter announced the release of the song on Saturday night on Instagram, sharing a clip of an American Dadscene that featured a snippet of the song in the background.

In the song, Alsina defines what an “entanglement” is, alluding to his alleged past romance with Jada Pinkett Smith who recently used the word on her “Red Table Talk” series to describe the two’s lengthy and complicated relationship.
“I got into an entanglement with August,” Pinkett Smith told her husband, Will Smith, to publicly explain what the relationship between her and the singer was like.
Alsina first mentioned his relationship with Pinkett Smith during an interview with radio host Angela Yee, describing how the two had been involved in a romantic relationship, even though Pinkett Smith had been married to actor Will Smith since 1997.
While no names were mentioned directly in the song, Alsina opens with the hook: “The definition of entanglement/It’s when you’re tangled in these sheets/Girl, I know we don’t call it a relationship/but you’re still f—in’ with me.”
The single comes just less than a month after Alsina dropped his 27-track album, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy earlier in June.
