NIkk NIcole, an artist from New Jersey decided to create a conscious
song reflecting on the strength but disfavor women receive, especially
melanite women. While quarantined due to Covid everyone is on social
media, the good and the bad. I’ve seen distasteful videos, two in
particular that made me so angry, where two black women were mishandled and abused by the hands of men, Black men. Women are the most protective but the most unprotected, so I had one question. Am I your Queen? After all we go through as women, caring for you, the one who birth life, the one who stroke your ego, can I count on you to protect me to honor me. Am I your Queen I wanted to create a visual that feels personal. My vision for the video is to have viewers feel like I’m personally having a conversion with them, so no props, no extra scenes, it’s just us let’s have a
conversation.
