Hundreds gathered on Tuesday to pay respects to George Floyd at his funeral in Houston. The Fountain of Praise church was packed with family, friends, politicians, and celebrities, including Ne-Yo who sang a tear jerking rendition of Boyz II Men “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” choking up several times as he attempted to get through the song. He also thanked Floyd and his family for unintentionally changing the world.
“Much love and strength to the family of George Floyd. Much love and strength to the family members that are here, anybody that’s been lost. Fifty states all protesting at the same time. This man changed the world, changed the world for the better, so I just wanna personally thank George Floyd for his sacrifice so that my kids can be alright later on. I appreciate the sacrifice, my brother. I genuinely do.”
Other famous attendees to Tuesday’s service included Kim Burrell, who also performed, Jamie Foxx, Rev. Al Sharpton, Channing Tatum, Al B. Sure!, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and Trae Tha Truth amongst many others.
