MTV Video Music Awards Will Not Be Held At The Legendary Barclays Center Due To COVID-19 Concerns

MTV’s VMAs will not be held at Barclays Center this year. MTV announced the change in location on Friday.

This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MTV decided that performers would perform live at outdoor locations in the city. There will be a limited or no audience in some cases. The network agreed to adhere to the social distance standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

MTV released the following statement: “The 2020 VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 30th and pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances around the City with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines.”

Actress, Keke Palmer, will host the award show. There will be performances from BTS, Doja Cat, J Balvin,  and many more.
