MTV has severed ties with Dee Nguyen from “The Challenge” and Taylor Selfridge of “Teen Mom OG” over both current and past racist tweets that have resurfaced.
Dee Nguyen is a cast member on the current season of MTV’s The Challenge. However due to her recent tweets regarding Black Lives Matter, the company is cutting ties with her.
“Idk why some of u think I’m anti BLM. I’ve been saying that since the day I lost my virginity,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. In an Instagram about George Floyd, Nguyen told a user that “people died every f*cking day,” seemingly saying that Floyd’s death was miniscule.
MTV did not stop there. They also rid Taylor Selfridge of her duties as the star of Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special after her 2012 racist tweets were dug up and blasted across social media. Her boyfriend Cory Wharton was fired along with her, who defended his girlfriend, claiming that she was simply misunderstood.
“We have to greet everyone at work but sometimes I won’t greet the Black people because they scare me,” she boldly wrote. In another tweet, she said “My uncle is dating an Asian. Aunt Ping please make me sushi,” Selfridge wrote.
MTV is just the latest network to axe some of it’s stars for racist social media posts. Bravo TV recently fired four cast members from their hit show Vanderpump Rules.
