The Oakland, California-bred raptress, Ms. Kash, is back and ready to test your loyalty with her new single and visuals for “2FACED“. Just a beutiful and intelligent woman talking some real sh**; something for the streets to vibe to. Ms. Kash is known for the relatable content that keeps the heads bopping and soul summoned to real spit. We had the honor of catching up with the Queen for a brief interview where she shares her inspiration for her latest hip-hop offering. Check it out below.

HHW: First, we need you to introduce yourself to the readers who may not be familiar. Tell us a little about you.

Kash: I was born and raised in East Oakland California. My name Ms. Kash comes from my true name Kashann. I am a mother of two boys, who I moved to Seattle and sacrificed my whole life for in order for them to have better opportunities than I did.

HHW: When did you first fall in love with music, and how long have you been actively pursuing your dreams of becoming a music artist?

Kash: I first fell in love with music in 7th grade. I was writing poetry heavily back then, and one of my teachers told me that poetry is just music without the beat. That stuck with me, and before you knew it I was in the cafeteria battle rapping at the lunch table lol. It wasn’t until I was old enough to get in the club that I decided to become an artist. I went to an open mic show at Club 6 in San Francisco and the crowd LOVED me. I felt something I never felt before, like this is what I’m meant to do.

HHW: What differentiates you from other artists?

Kash:  The main thing that separates me from other Artists I would have to say is, not being afraid to be different. I’ve never fit in with the “kool ones” so I’m not afraid to being the only one NoT following trends. I know who I am as a woman and also as an Artist.

HHW: Are there any artists in the present day or before you that musically inspire you? If so, who and why

Kash: Missy Elliot is definitely and inspiration to me. She’s never afraid to be different. She’s so creative and musically gifted. I adore her.

HHW: What motivates you in and out of the booth?

Kash: My music motivation comes in many different forms. When I hear dope beats in the studio, when I reflect over my life… or when I have a good OR bad day. It could be anything, food in the microwave, I’ll make a song about it (laughs).

HHW: What are three things about you that would shock the public?

Kash: Three things about me that most people don’t know… well I’m 6ft tall, and like 6’4 with heels on. Lol. I don’t smoke or do drugs. I love to drive, I’ll drive anywhere!

HHW: What do you feel you contribute to the culture as an artist?

Kash: I believe my contribution to the culture is me staying true to hip hop. I take those bars I spit real serious. And also being authentic in everything I do, no gimmicks.

HHW: How do you balance your career with your home life? Family?

Kash: It gets hard to balance home, music, and family sometimes. Thank God my family supports my music wholeheartedly, so they understand when I need time to myself to write or record.

HHW: What was the inspiration behind this track and video?

Kash: The inspiration behind this track came from real life experiences. The ones I thought would be happy I overcame so many obstacles life,  became the main people who didn’t want me doing better than them, or expect handouts even when they speak badly about me. All I’m trying to do is find my way and show my kids something different in life. While filming the visual, I just wanted simplicity… in a vintage, modern sorta way lol. It came together perfectly.

HHW: How can those looking to book you make contact?
