Last week Miami police announced the arrest of 25-year-old real estate agent, Willy Suarez Maceo. Willy was suspected to be involved in a string of shootings targeting homeless people.
Miami Police Department began their investigation when a witness flagged down an officer on December 21 around 8 p.m. The officer located a homeless victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in “extreme critical condition”.
The next victim was reported two hours later when a witness called in reporting a nonresponsive homeless person on Miami Avenue and 21st Street. This victim had also suffered from a gunshot wound. Investigators linked the two shootings because of their close time span and both victims being homeless. “Physical evidence on the scene of both crimes quickly were matched by our ballistics experts, and we were able to identify a vehicle and a person of interest,” said Police Chief Morales.
Maceo has been charged with both, murder and attempted murder, and is being held without bond.
