It’s a new day and a new artist is on the horizon! Hailing from the Valley of Los Angeles county. We bring to you ItsdaFix! I’ve been following this artist for a few years now, so it’s my pleasure to be able to introduce you guys to him. The best part about this artist is that his music has substance. He’s not just creating sounds, he’s telling a story and sending a message to all of us. I had the pleasure of getting to speak with him and learn a little more about his purpose for stepping into the music industry and also what he’s hoping to accomplish as an artist. Take a look for yourself below!

Tell me about yourself?

Born in Michigan, raised in Panorama City, Ca ( Los Angeles county ). I’m a husband and father of 2 boys. I’m a rap recording artist, songwriter, and producer.

What do you want your sons to say about you 20 years from now?

I want my sons to say that they have a father that is not perfect, loved the heck out of them, taught them the true values of life, fruits of the Holy Spirit and God. I’d feel I’ve done my job.

Why music? What makes you want to get up every day to pursue music?

Music is therapeutic! It’s energy! It can change your mode from bad to good or vice versa. I was attracted to the good vibes I got off it. I would like to know that I’m giving back by at least. By helping people get thru those times.

Tell me the story behind your name?

I was young and always jumping into ciphers with “graphic” content. After a while that stuck. As I got older, I noticed I was also a fixture to however the tracks I’m writing to because I loved the challenge I never wanted to repeat the same vibe. So it was a double wammy. I’m the fixture and I’m cutting grafix in half. Itsdafix

Tell me about your upcoming project?

Bustdown! It’s a vibe for the summer. It’s witty. It’s dope. It screams nostalgia and it’s a breath of fresh air. A song about just getting a function together. No violence, good times that end up like hold up I might be serious about this lady I’m linking up with. That vibe. I have my song “somebody’s” dropping soon after that connects with Bustdown.

How many songs are on your full project and what’s the theme of it?

Besides killing everybody to death with a list of singles soon to release. My full album project is Itsdafix life and Times of Sean Cuvie. It’s years in the making. It’s my trials and tribulations. It speaks on spiritual transformations! It’s gonna be different from my singles that are about to drop, because It’s gonna be really personal. 11 tracks! It’s my favorite number! I’m a Veterans Day baby 11/11.

Bustdown, tell me how this song came to pass?

Chilling in the morning. It’s Sunny in the San Fernando Valley where every day is summer. The vibe hit! It was in the air. I’m chilling with the homies and it kinda was all pictured. A function that we’ve all been to. Might be another whatever night, but hey this one has my interest. I laid the vocals down. Shot it to Slick Talk Tony the producer. He hit me that morning with the same beat but on steroids. He was like your not just gonna do that to my beat without me fighting back haha everything was in my pocket.

What made you choose this song as your single?

The lineup I have is calculated, so for this song was perfect timing for the summer. Sunny day feel! Good vibes! I have some heaters that turn up a little more than this but this one felt nostalgic. You know that return of the west coast cool chill vibe.

You have a background in songwriting, what sparked your interest in that?

I’ve done some writing for R&b artists and groups in my past, and have been apart of writing groups. Just thru the years of producing, writing, and rapping, my love is making something out of nothing. I have a lot of projects currently in the workings. And to many in the arsenal to single the world to death. Then after, drop the album when hopefully in high demand.

How has songwriting for others prepared you to tackle the industry as an artist?

I think just not becoming a one trick pony in this industry is a good start. I started to learn different angles to execute a song. I’ve notice all songs and ideas may not be for me sonicly, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that I can’t write it up and have someone else execute it.

What feeling do you want people to have after listening to your music?

I want people to feel like they made it out of a funk that they might have been in. Laugh trip out on the lyrics, swag, flow, and enjoy the vibe. I want people to start their day off with Bustdown like, hey it’s about to be a good sunny day and the vibes gonna be A1.
