DJ Pup Dawg is not new to the music industry, as he has been putting in his time and hard work in the radio scene for almost 25 years now. He can be found on iHeart radio, Jamin’ 94.5, SiriusXM and also behind the scenes managing the station as music and program director. He is also on the marketing side helping artists and labels with ideas to promote their work. Born in Pakistan, Pup Dawg holds his roots close to his heart by making sure he represents them in every and any way. His slogan on air, “from Pakistan to L.A. to Boston,” represents him perfectly, as he was raised in Los Angeles and then moved to Boston.
Although his love for Hip-hop and radio was deep, he found the transitioning of coming from Pakistan a little harder to maneuver. In the beginning, people in the industry did not take Pup Dawg as seriously as he hoped, but he kept pushing through and carried that on as motivation to make a name for himself. Now he wants others from different backgrounds to be inspired and see that they can do it, too. Pup Dawg’s upbringing also helped shape his work ethic and mentality early on in his life. He shared that his dad worked long days and nights, and he witnessed that time as he tagged along with his father, who worked several jobs while owning a store. On the other hand, his mom instilled a loving and caring side that showcased what he brings out to the world is what he gets back, which the Boston resident finds both within him in the industry. You can hear DJ Pup Dawg ending his shows every night with an important message of J. Cole’s “Love Yourz.”
