A young artist with big dreams, Mo Bentley has recently released her newest single about being yourself and not letting anyone get in your way. “Don’t Kill My Vibe” is an upbeat, stuck-in-your-head kind of song that shows just how talented and ready for the challenge this artist really is.
Taking an interest in music at a young age, Bentley has always wanted to stand out from the crowd. “I got into music because of sports which is actually really surprising. My whole family is a big sports family and I wanted to take a different path and do something more creative. I’ve always been doing music since I was really young, like I had little Target guitars and weird little music instruments and then I really got into it when I was 13 and finally started making music when I was 17.”
With a sound that’s mixed R&B and Pop music, Bentley has created an exciting and modern aesthetic. Some of her biggest musical influences include several of today’s biggest artists such
as Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Camila Cabello and Madison Beer. “I really am influenced by Ariana Grande. She’s a very big person in my life. Since I was maybe like 10, I’ve been listening to her and watching her shows. I aspired to be that successful, confident, and creative. I really like Post Malone, Camila Cabello, Madison Beer. They’re all very successful and talented artists that work really hard and I really like all of their work ethics, too. That’s something I aspire to do, to just work hard.”
Bentley’s latest single, “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” focuses on standing up for yourself and not getting stuck on the things people say. “I wanted to let everyone know that I don’t care about what you think and what you’re saying. It’s not gonna kill my vibe. I’m gonna do my own thing and I’m gonna have fun and nothing you can say or do is gonna break me down. It was really fun to write because it really helped me let go of all the hate that I was struggling with.”
The track came to life when Bentley went through her Instagram, looking at all of the negative and rude comments, drawing inspiration from there. “All of the negative and rude comments really helped us finalize and tie the song together. It really helped us create the finalized version.”
Bentley has plans to continue her career with the goal of spending just about every day in the studio in the coming year. She hopes to put out an album or EP and continue to work towards her goals of reaching the level of her favorite artists. Until she gets there, she will be hard at work to create more music and expand her reach as both an artist and person.
