Back from his hiatus of dropping solo projects, currently Ohio-based rapper Gusto Leimert returns with his boisterous homage to the trap house in the hard-knocking visual for “Trap Back. He also talks about his long-awaited forthcoming album.
As the year picks up with multiple releases from the hip hop contingent, South Central bred recording and performing act – Gusto Leimert – is certainly not one to be left out of the party. Amidst the roll-out for his freshest project Evolution Of The Trap dropping soon, he moots all about the contriving ways of being involved with the “trap” on his latest body of work.
If you have been an ardent follower of trap pioneers such as Gucci Mane, T.I, Jeezy, 2 Chainz, and the class of rap acts that laud the hazardous lifestyle of selling narcotics in the streets as a way to ascertain financial freedom, or even the more opulent Pusha T who compounds drugs as a luxury commodity, you will most definitely dig into the scintillating dope-appeal bars Gus platforms on this record, as a means to escape his travails.
Speaking from a place of candor and culture, Gusto Leimert masters a cinematic visual that incorporates simulated activities of selling drugs, cooking them, and dispatching them, while also demonstrating his rarely seen acting skills in a short skit featuring a woman that interrupts the gang activities while they package contraband in a trap house – a very common event in trap houses, igniting a huge sense of relatability.
As the extolling trap record is bound to keep us on our toes in the club at least, his album Evolution Of The Trap is stacked with turnt up anthems, therapeutic messages, smooth flows, and his sparkling individuality, Gusto proving why he is among the most alluring crop of rappers contemporarily landing arguably yet another classic project under his belt.
He vividly shares his explicit adventures of the dangers that come with the arduous life of being a trapper, as well as stories that revolve around his own personal journey altogether.
More on the album
Off the heels of his appearance on meteorically rising emcee St33lofner’s showy cut, “Cheat Code”, Gusto assembles his crispy cadences and lush harmonies to the fray once again.
Talking to Remixd Mag exclusively, Gus describes the record as “different pieces of himself” through each record, and with the “I Care” recording artist now based in Ohio having teased the inviting single “Trap Back” through his Instagram since late January – the full-length project will spawn more hits. Through snippets, the most teases have been indicative to the project boasting a more West Coast leaning sound and simultaneously still reverberating his own unique sound on this particular effort.
“It’s inspired by the grind and how L’s come with whatever you’re doing,” he says. “It’s all about you not quitting and keep putting in the work. That’s when everything falls in place.”
