After announcing the re-release of January’s chart-topping album Funeral during the premiere of his Young Money Radio on Friday, Lil Wayne has now dropped the extended version of his video for “Piano Trap” and “Not Me”.
Wayne revealed to Rolling Stone the inspiration from the video came after he was shown a video of skaters with “Piano Trap” playing in the background.
The Ricky x Willis directed visuals finds Weezy showing off his skateboarding skills, despite the video opening with a warning sign forbidding the sport where he is located in Beverly Hills. Aside from the majority of the video being footage of Weezy impressively landing skateboarding stunts while occasionally smoking a blunt, he does take a moment to reference the current pandemic with a “BROVID-17” PSA along with the warning, “Authorities are urging everyone stay inside…and thrash!”
In the past several years, Lil Wayne has expressed his love for skating through his music and TrukFit clothing line, which was heavily influenced by skate culture.
“I’ve found skateboarding to be a release from life and all this shit in general!” he said. “That’s why I can’t stop won’t stop!”
