Introduce yourself to our readers! Let them know your name, where you’re from & the name of the project you dropped!

I’m Fatty2Dope. I was born in Seattle Washington, currently living in Los Angeles, California. The name of my new single is True Story featuring D. Savage. Out now on YouTube!

Fatty2Dope, recently you debuted your first single and the music video for it entitled “True Story” featuring D. Savage .Within 3 days the music video had over 3 MILLION VIEWS and was trending on YouTube. The production of the music video was done by you– an unsigned indi artist. Why do you think the fans went so crazy for this record?

I think the fans went crazy for that record because a lot of kids can relate to the lyrics of the song. Especially what they are hearing and see in that video. Those that can’t kinda romantize that lifestyle.

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO BELOW!

Tell the readers about the creative concept of the music video for “True Story” featuring D. Savage. The video is filmed in a high school with other students and you’re all wearing the West Coast influenced Khaki uniform.Tell us about the video concept.

I wanted it to feel as authentic as possible. I wanted to go for a real inner city look to portray the real high school experience that I experienced. I went to a school with about 400 kids.

Word on the Street is, you’re the modern day Easy E. People constantly compare you to him. How do you respond to that?

West Coast music is a huge influence in my style but I’m not the one to bite the G.O.A.T.S styles like that. Easy E could be considered the face of OG West Coast Music and I think a lot of people who may be unfamiliar with that style kinda sum up any West Coast sound to just that.

Fatty2Dope, The song is calledTrue Story. So I have to ask –Are the lyrics based on a true story?

The lyrics to this single can and should ring true not only to myself , but any kid who experienced an overcrowded unfocused inner city High School experience. That was my goal- to portray that through the lyrics and also through the video. PEEP THE LYRICS BELOW!

“I would jump off the porch/Before I head to the school/ They had the metal detectors

But I still snuck in the tool/Now my homies skipping class they be acting a fool

And there’s a bad Puerto Rican bitch making me drool”

Fatty2Dope–the cover art for True Story is interesting and unique. There is a cartoon figure of what appears to be you in Jordan 1’s outside of the high school and a girl coming for you. Tell us about the cover art. Is there a subliminal meaning to it?

You know I had to fuck with my man @purp_art for the artwork. There may be a subliminal meaning, there may not be. The thing about art is- it’s how you perceive it. No 2 people will see the same thing or get the same meaning from artwork. So my answer is there is no answer. That’s my final answer. LOL

As mentioned, D. Savage has a feature on True Story. Why did you choose D. Savage? It seems you both have great chemistry together on this record by the way.

I wanted him to do the feature because I feel like D. Savage has a respected presence in as an upcoming artist in the Los Angeles area so it just made sense

How did you get the name Fatty2Dope? Did someone give it to you?

I got it because growing up I was a little fat MFer but a dope one none the less.

One thing that makes you the wildcard right now is that you are an independent artist based out of LA, True Storyis your very first single and you went crazy viral with the music video in 3 days with no team behind you. There must be more up your sleeve. Fatty2Dopewhatcan the fans expect of you after True Story?

“Streetz N Motelz” is the next single I’m dropping soon about yo’ city streetz and motelz. I have a lot more up my sleeve but I’m not the type to speak about things before they actually happen so you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out. Peep The Preview Below!
