The legal troubles for Kodak Black just never seem to end. The Florida rapper has been sentenced to 46 months in prison after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges in August. While not ideal, this is a much lighter sentence than the ten years he was originally facing in the case.

Given his many other arrests and run ins with the law, the judge seemed to be pretty fed up with the number of chances that Kodak has received over the years. “Young people do stupid things, but the problem is that you’ve been doing stupid things since you were 15.” U.S. District Court Judge Federico Moreno told the rapper during the sentencing hearing on Wednesday.

Kodak, who’s real name is Bill Kapri (originally Dieuson Octave before legally changing it)  was accused of falsifying information in order to purchase three firearms from a gun shop in Miami. To add insult to injury, one of those weapons was later found at the scene of a shooting in Pompano Beach, Florida. However, he has not been implicated in that shooting.

Just a little over a year ago, Kodak was released from the Broward County Jail in August of 2018 after serving a seven month sentence for violating the terms of his probation. It appeared that the 22 year old was on the right track, having received his G.E.D. while behind bars with the help of a judge granted tutor, as well as stating that he would be making his debut as an author. However, upon his release, his troubled past seemed to catch up with him once more.

While the weapons case may now be closed, Kodak is still facing sexual assault charges in South Carolina, where a young woman claimed to have been raped by the rapper following a concert. That case has yet to go to trial, however, the evidence, including a rape kit that confirmed the victims statements, seems to be quite strong against the rapper.

If convicted in that trial, Kodak faces up to 30 years in prison.
