Chicago’s very own Kanye West and Chick-fil-A have joined forces with a Christian non-profit organization to provide over 300,000 meals for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the L.A. area, according to Fox News.
Since March, The Dream Center Los Angeles has provided 11,000 meals a day to residents in need thanks to early support from Kanye, Kim Kardashian and companies like Chick-fil-A, who has been donating sandwiches to the center daily. Aside from meals, the center provides other essential items seven days a week for 11 hours each day. Kanye’s donation will help the non-profit to expand their drive-thru service to vulnerable seniors, who need to remain isolated in their homes.
“Every morning I wake up and stand in the parking lot with our dedicated staff, I am blown away that day after day, week after week, there is enough food to provide to folks that need it,” said Dream Center co-founder Matthew Barnett. “I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighborhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”
The “Jesus Walks” creator has also donated to Chicago’s We Women Empowered, which is providing meal deliveries to the elderly living in Chicago’s south side.
It’s a beautiful thing to witness everyone coming together in these difficult times. Way to go Kanye.
