If the 80’s and the 90’s had a child, its name would be JTLR.
Musically, they consider themselves a lovechild from the conception of the 80’s and the 90’s eras. That couldn’t be a more true statement given the vibes and energy they bring to the world of music in 2022. The formed duo of MC Jonny T and Lyric Richardson have created masterful bodies of work as solo entities, and together as the group JTLR. Their newest song The Thickies serves as further proof of those claims.
“The Thickies” picks up where their 2021 Chubby Girl Swag release left off. A formal celebration of size acceptance, body positivity, and a better portrayal of a unique community of people who are often misrepresented in mainstream media. The 2020 Grammy contenders continue to use their platform and industry presence to spread love and represent this audience unapologetically.
The original version of The Thickies is more rap-based with hard drums and playful piano melodies. The PCH Remix version has an “updated from the 90’s” R&B vibe. MC Jonny T doesn’t disappoint with the bars and Lyric Richardson delivers with a smooth hybrid rap & undeniably catchy run of R&B vocals.
“I myself can find beauty in every color, hairstyle, shape, and size. However, Thicker women for me embody the essence of feminine power. Curves are beautiful, chubby faces are beautiful, thick thighs are beautiful. They are walking works of art sculpted by the hands of God.” -Lyric Richardson
JTLR Music continues to evolve as songwriters and producers as they are working on new releases for Jamie Lopez, Barbie la Vie, and the legendary Hit Squad collective members Villa G and RJ da Realest. For now, head over to the Team Thickies website, grab a shirt, and rep for the thicky thicky thicky thickies -the thickies!
