Jay-Z stepped up to ensure that Ahmaud Arbery’s lawyers made it to court on time and in style.
The music mogul and Roc Nation chartered a private jet to ensure that Blerim Elmazi and S. Lee Merritt were able to attend the court hearing in Brunswick, Georgia, when they were unable to find a flight.
Attorney S. Lee Merritt, founder of Merritt Law Firm shared the moment in an Instagram post of himself sitting inside of the jet with the caption, “When you absolutely have to be in Court to stand with your client and righteous protestors for justice … Jay Z sends his private jet. That’s part of the P.P.E plan to get us out of this Crisis (People Power Political Power Economic Power).” Civil rights attorney Blerim Elmazi, who works with Merritt, also shared a photo of the dup in front of the jet holding red t-shirts that read “Legal Observer.”
“Court hearing in Brunswick, Georgia this morning. No flights to take us there last night. @leemerrittesq and I spent hours trying to find flights or cars. At 1 am we started losing hope till we got a call from Jay Z’s people at Roc Nation who chartered a flight for us to attend this hearing with the family of Ahmaud Arbery” Elmazi wrote before adding “Thankful for their support. Updates on the hearing soon.”
25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery, was murdered on February 23rd in Brunswick, Georgia as he was out for a job. Arbery had been chased down by Greg McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan Jr. Travis exited the vehicle and shot Arbery in the street. All three have since been charged in Arbery’s murder, which was captured on dash cam footage.
