Meet ZayZayy, an artist who’s on the come up and is coming quickly for his moment in the spotlight. He just released his new single “Walk Wit It,” which showcases his talents on a whole new level and further establishes him as someone to be on the lookout for. The independent talent, who’s originally from Liberia, Africa, is showing the world what he’s capable of with this new track. It’s a deep, reflective record that speaks on a recent experience that ZayZayy had.
“ The song was inspired by a break-in at my apartment while I was out of town in NY and translated into me writing a song about ‘when doing something good, the hate is going to come – gotta embrace it!’” ZayZayy explained in a recent interview.
The song, which was created after his apartment was broken into, fueled ZayZayy’s determination to go even harder. According to him, it was a situation that was unfortunate, but ultimately motivated him to create “Walk Wit It,” and embrace the fact that hate comes with success. “Walk Wit It” is a smooth track and displays ZayZayy’s lyrical and storytelling capabilities. It has a smooth chorus and ultimately a chill vibe that incorporates a bit of singing with melodic rapping.
As far as who ZayZayy is as an artist, he says that he’s inspired by artists such as Davido, Drake, and Young Thug. It’s no wonder that his sound can be described as a unique “realistic” sound with a component that anyone can relate to when they listen to it.
“Music initially was used as an outlet to tell my story, like a form of therapy for many years,” ZayZayy said. “I started taking music more seriously in 2019 once I became managed by Round Group Entertainment.”
Now that ZayZayy has taken his music career seriously, he says that he’s experienced plenty of high moments so far in his career. From working with other artists like Babyface Ray and Lil Dude, to using music as a creative outlet to express himself, ZayZayy is just getting started.
“My most proud moment is honestly when my mother accepted my music as a career and having her support,” he said. “Like I said, coming from a third world country, music is not seen as a career.”
With songs such as “Walk Wit It” under his belt, as well as a catalogue of different songs like “We Not Cool” and his recent EP ‘Just Because,’ ZayZayy is proving that he’s not someone to play around with.
When asked about what he hopes audiences take away from his music, he responded:
“I hope my music is receptive and really something people can connect and relate to.”
