Introduce yourself to our readers, let them know your name and where you’re from.
To some, I’m Djoudrjy Chiffra. To the world, I’m D.J. Da Don, a music producer from Miami, Florida.
Why did you start to do music?
Music was a positive outlet for me. It allowed me to find a way out the streets by giving me the chance to express my creativeness and passion for music.
When did you know that it was actually going to be your career?
I knew that producing was a career when I received my first label check from Interscope Records. I was able to pay bills, get a few essentials, and still put some money in the bank. Being able to do all of that made me hungry for more.
If you could get advice from any producer in the industry, who would it be and why?
If I could get advice from any producer, it’ll be from Dr. Dre. Besides being a business mogul, he has years and years of experience in the music industry. Everybody knows when they’re listening to a beat produced by Dre. His sound is that distinct.
What or who influences your music?
I make trap beats, so a big part of my influence comes from the streets. I’m like the people’s champ. I try to give them what they want to hear. Also being from Miami, I was influenced by Cool & Dre. Although they were older than me, we went to same high school. Just being able to see them win influenced me to rep Miami and deliver that classic 808 sound.
Has anyone helped you or guided you in getting your foot in the industry?
Young Chop definitely was one of my biggest mentors. In 2013, I had the opportunity to tour with Chief Keef, Lil Reese, and Lil Durk. Within those couple months, I tried to soak up as much as I could. Chop basically took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. Eventually, I was able to jump in the game by co-producing a few tracks with him before branching out on my own.
How many albums do you have placements on?
I have placements on approximately 10 albums. I produced tracks on Federal 3, Summer Shootout 3, 650 Luc Gangsta Grillz, and Brat Mail.
What differentiates you from other producers?
I’m hands-on. I like to build relationships with my artists in order to get an idea of that specific sound they’re looking for. In addition to that, I don’t discriminate. I work not only with stars, but a lot of aspiring artists as well. I understand the grind and enjoy being able to give people the opportunity of creating quality music and pursuing their dreams. No matter how big I get, I believe that I will always stay hungry and connected to the people. It’s a big part of who I am!
How can artist looking to purchase beats get in contact with you?
If anyone is looking to purchase beats, they can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or dm me at djdadon_on_da_track on Instagram.
What do you hope to get out of your involvement in the music industry?
I’m hoping to get Grammy’s. If you noticed, I didn’t say a Grammy. I’m looking to get multiple. Therefore, I’m willing to do the work necessary to be recognized as one of the greatest to ever do it.
