As with any addiction, it’s been a long, hard road for R&B sensation Keyshia Cole‘s biological mother, Frankie Lons.

Over the years, Keyshia and Frankie opened their lives up to the public sharing both the good and trying times. We watched numerous times as Frankie began the road to recovery with her drug addiction, as Keyshia and family shared their emotions on the topic. Frankie gave us laughs and Frankie gave us tears as we connected with the family as if they were our own during Keyshia’s show, Keyshia Cole My New Life, where Frankie made countless cameos.

We are more than thankful for Keyshia and Frankie’s transparency with a struggle many face daily, and are saddened to report the passing of Frankie Lons, reportedly due to an overdose.

Sam, Keyshia Cole‘s brother, whom is also a musician, announced Frankie’s death in a series of Instagram posts today, Monday, July 19. In the first post, he stated his mother passed on her birthday, followed by a few video posts of good times featuring Frankie and himself.

Sam spoke exclusively with TMZ, where he revealed Frankie’s cause of death. Keyshia has yet to comment on the passing of their mother. However, we offer our deepest condolences to Keyshia, Sam and all affected by Frankie Lons passing.
