Introduce yourself to our readers! Let them know your name, where you’re from & the name of the project you dropped!

My name is Eight. I’m from South Side Jamaica Queens. The name of the album I just dropped is entitled Trapper- out on all platforms.

Eight– Your latest album Trapper was released at the end of March and was met with outstanding reviews. The industry and fans have been buzzing over this project since its debut. Why do you think the fans love this project so much and what’s that been like for you- The success?

It’s been great. I always pay attention to the feedback to see what the people respond to and which songs they vibe to the most. This project has been getting nothing but love. I’m thankful for that type of support. I think the fans love Trapper so much because when I created it- I was speaking my truth and because I never switched up my formula as a creator. The first single you released off of Trapper is entitled Ninth! Tell the readers why you picked that as the first single? You must have known it was a winner.

I picked Ninth as the first single because honestly, I knew it would set the tone for the rest of the project. Ninth is one of the earliest singles I recorded on Trapper and I felt it set the direction for where the rest of the album would go. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!

Eight – tell the readers a bit about the vibe of your new album Trapper. I would describe it to the fans as that old school grimy 90’s Hip Hop meets Griselda spooky beat vibes.

That’s a pretty good way to describe it actually. It’s like that Boom Bap type of hip hop. It’s like a memoir. I took my time with this album including the features. I wanted it to be perfect when it debuted because the music is who I really am. On this tape you can expect to hear features by Chello, Rick Hyde from Black Sopranos Family and a rapper from South Jamaica Queens – Ace.

The next single off Trapper is All I Ever Wanted. Now you know I’m a lyric lover so I read through your lyrics. On that song you say:

“All I really ever wanted was to give the team hope/Trying start a wave / Trying give the team hope.”

Is this song based on a true story?

Yeah, you can say when I write I wear my heart on my sleeve- a lot. That’s still how I feel and I’ve always felt that way. When I write, I try to write based on real life shit and what I’m going through, how I’m feeling inside. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!

Eight- why did you name this album Trapper? Is there a subliminal meaning behind it?

I wouldn’t say there is a subliminal meaning to it but to me a trapper is a type of person who figures it out, a trouble shooter, a go getter, a problem solver, someone who no matter what can get it done. Someone whose actively doing it 24/7. I always identify myself as a Trapper.

How did you get the name Eight?

I use to make beats and my producer name was Eight O Eight. What’s crazy is I realized that the number 8 follows me around a lot. I’m into numerology and numbers, and for whatever reason the number Eight pops up a lot for me and I learned over time that it has different meanings. Originally, it was my producer name though.

As an artist, do you hear a beat first and then write the lyrics or do you write the lyrics first then pick the beat?

Usually I hear a beat first and as soon as I know it’s the one, I know which direction I’m gonna go with it and I start writing.
