DJ Pop, aka Papa Yaw, is one of the hottest DJs in the Mid-Atlantic. The Ghanaian-American disc jockey grew up in Maryland and is now bringing his talents to the rest of the world. His journey from having no friends at West Virginia University to becoming the school’s best party rocker is crazy. The Gaithersburg, MD native took a job as a bouncer in the club and flipped that into a DJ gig. His big break was a Lil Skies show, and by 2017 he had shared the stage with Q Da Fool, NLE Choppa, Fat Trel, and many others. Moreover, DJ Pop was financing concerts on his own before he could even legally drink. The man’s impeccable work ethic is helping him become a star in the industry.
Pop’s DJ career evolved as he began producing music for some of the top acts in the DMV. After the pandemic started and clubs were closed, he knew he had to pivot to another form of income. The fast-rising spiritual DJ/producer is all about sharing wealth. Everything he knows in the game he shares with his team. Recently, he even tattooed “777” on his chest as a reminder for all the blessings to come shortly. His newest records, “Gangers” & “Starz,” have done well on streaming platforms.
