Joining a line of New Orleans legends like Lil Wayne, Devious has earned his way in the game with fire releases like his new unreleased mixtape, “Memories.”
New Orleans songwriter and artist, Devious has studied the art of music both from rappers in the game and at New York University. He has dissected hip hop, perfecting the craft and rising to success in the industry through freestyling, topping talent shows and songwriting. Devious’ penmanship has seen recognition from mainstream artists to upcoming rappers wanting a piece of industry success. Having songwriting credits for notable acts like Cardi B, Lil Duval, City Girls, Travis Porter, Juicy J, and Layton Greene among others, his accolades expand into iconic territory winning the ASCAP award and growing on track to Grammy recognition.
With heavyweight accomplishments in the foundation of his career, Devious is laying the groundwork for his upcoming mixtape, “Memoires.” The mixtape comes after his XLP distributed album, “Independent Rap Hustler” and features some of New Orleans’ finest on the mic. From former incarcerated and No Limit artist Mac, to Lil Wayne’s “Mrs. Officer” artist feature, Kidd Kidd, to former No Limit rapper Fiend, Devious assembled a talented team. Fans can also look out for the new album from one of the featured artists, Mac as he inspires, builds, and uplifts the youths through school lectures, interviews, and music. Notwithstanding the artists, the production credits on the mixtape are equally stacked with producer Deeday who has worked with Kevin Gates, Lil Boosie, and Gunplay, alongside Platinum producer Blaqnmild who is the mastermind behind Drake’s “Nice For What” and “In My Feelings.”
Devious is using his status and platform to uplift newer artists, giving them advice about industry business he wishes he had coming up. Thus far he has shone light on New Orleans’ next generation of Emcees like Jay Arson, Michael Orleanz, and Lil Wayne’s former Squad Up crewmate, Raw Dizzy. “Memories” will continue to showcase the many talents throughout the city known for its iconic Jazz, bounce music, No Limit Records, and Cash Money/Young Money Records. Stay tuned for the mixtape’s release early March.
