One hip-hop artist is using music to bridge the gap between artists who are creating a path in the music scene.

EZ Duzzit came up with the idea of a city cypher to bridge that gap in the Columbus, Georgia area.  “Columbus Got Barz City Cypher” aims to build a sense of unity and show how artists can accomplish more together.

The first volume of the cypher features 18 artists from Columbus and surrounding cities. EZ Duzzit put out a call-out for artists who would be interested in being in the cypher. However, he hand-picked several as he’s connected with multiple artists while performing and visiting different venues in the city.

Realizing that Columbus is not often seen as an apparent music hub, EZ Duzzit said he put the cypher together to bring a sense of harmony, display talent, and show that artists can do a lot more together, contrary to competing.

“There’s always a level of competition when it comes to music, but I think people get too wrapped up in competition and fail to work together to make things bigger,” EZ Duzzit said. “It’s okay to work with each other. You don’t have to alienate yourself just because you’re on a different team or trying to do the same thing as someone else.”

There was an overwhelming response from both artists and fans when the cypher was performed live in November. As a result, EZ Duzzit already has the artist lineup for “Columbus Got Barz Vol. 2.” He’s keeping the cyphers going in Columbus and is challenging other cities to help people come together in the music industry.

“Columbus Got Barz Vol.”  is available for streaming and download.
