Chicago saw it’s deadliest Memorial Day Weekend since 2015.
Despite “Safer At Home” ordinances remaining in place in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19, many people continued to celebrate across the country. Chicago was no exception, with many people being harmed while partaking in the festivities. According to a report made by CBS 2, over 40 people were shot with 10 of those shootings being fatal, including a 16-year-old boy who was gunned down while innocently walking down the street. This past holiday weekend marks the deadliest Memorial Day Weekend since 2015 when 12 people were murdered.
Chicago currently has a ban of gatherings of more than 10 people in response to the COVID-19 efforts. Unfortunately, that did not stop the residents from gathering in large crowds.
Rest in peace to the lives that were senselessly lost.
