Interview By Dirty O
Dirty – So tell us a little bit about yourself
Stupid Paid – I’m originally from Heidelberg Germany. I moved to the states when I was about 5 years old.. I’m what you would call and army brat. Both of may parents were in the service. And happen to be stationed out there at the same time when they met. As an army brat our location depended on where my mother got stationed.
Dirty – So 5 years old you came to the states?
Stupid Paid – Yes, we were off to NY.. I wanna say fort drum.. but shortly after getting there she was released due to it being the end of her enlistment. I guess you can say my mother’s side of the family is from Buffalo NY even though I’ve heard stories of them being from NYC.
Dirty – So you grew up in buffalo??
Stupid Paid – Yeah I grew up on the north side of town. In what was known back then as the Hertel homes. Located on Hertel Ave. I still remember one of my first rhymes still “I was jumping hurtles on the Hertel ave, dodging police chasing cash, toting pistols you would get yo’ issue if I let it blast” (laughs to himself) crazy I still remember that.
Dirty – That’s pretty dope for you to even remember those lines right there.
Stupid Paid – yeah that could actually be a backdrop for my childhood. Even though my mom was a God fearing woman and a hard worker.. her being at work most of the time gave way for me to be out in them streets. Figuring out shit for myself. As they say by hook or crook.
Dirty – So the streets play a heavy role in your music??
Stupid Paid – The streets is what you’ll hear in my music. Stuff I’ve been through and lived personally. My music is basically an audio-biography you know some names have been changed to protect the innocent. But it’s all real. Which brings me to why I chose to rap. And you can quote me on this. I just got tired for hearing people lie in their music.
Dirty – So the whole movement is authentic??
Stupid Paid – Hell Yeah!!! Like I was really out here in tune with the streets. I grew up around gangsters and killers, pimps and hustlers. Soaked up the game from all them, feel me? I was really front line and aint see or hear none of the shit niggas was putting on wax. I was just over it!
Dirty – What separates you from the common artist??
Stupid Paid – I grew up with and rubbed shoulders wit some of the realest niggas ever. That’s what made me hate lames and fake muthafuckas.. (period) so I didn’t subscribed to the bullshit. And since I was really getting to it.. and I had a love for music I said Imma listen to my own shit.. at least I know what it’s hitting for. I’m not wit all those GMO’s my shit has to be organic (laughs) gotta watch what you’re listening to and putting in your body.
Dirty – So what are some of your musical influences???
Stupid Paid – As far as my influences, I grew up listening to Capone-N-Noreaga, Nas Jay Z, PAC & Big…… Bun B & Pimp C. Surprisingly a lot of Houston rappers even before Mike Jones came around. Big HAWK, Z-ro, Phat Phat, Charlie Boy & Slim Thug oh and we cant forget Jeezy.. I know that was a long list but I’d say they all molded me as a rapper and how I choose to put my worlds together to tell my story.
Dirty – Thats a dope list right there and not the usual list either.
Stupid Paid – Best part about it, I think you can hear it in my music that I’m a true fan and student of hip-hop. Damn!! How I almost forgot to mention 36 mafia!! Them was my niggas right there.
Dirty- What kind of goals have you set for yourself??
Stupid Paid- As far as my goals with rap… I guess it’s just to be heard… you can’t look at me and see I’m doing good already so it’s not about fame. I’m all about a check, taking care of my family and being heard.
Dirty – How cant the fans thats reading staying in touch with you??
