Following a brief 6-year hiatus, the Queen Bey is back and always better than before! Following the fire release of her dance anthem “Break My Soul” and teasing the album’s details, Beyoncé delivers!
With a surprise early release, the Queen of the #BeyHive unleashes her seventh studio album RENAISSANCE. In fact, she unveils visuals to support the drop off while also informing fans of her plans of a trilogy! It’s not yet known if Act II and Act III will also be RENAISSANCE-titled as well, or whether they’ll be similarly dance-oriented, but the #BeyHive is ready to swarm the world with excitement! Beyoncé re-emerges on the scene serving up a 16-track LP featuring upbeat songs like “Church Girl,” “Cuff It,” and “Energy” that will have any dancefloor “Jumpin, Jumpin” this summer.
Throughout the course of her career over the years, we’ve watched the evolution or Beyoncé – Sasha Fierce. With that being said, she’s created timeless music and is especially known for her danceable hits! Her latest album will have the party going all night long. In fact, RENAISSANCE serves as Act I and the first installment of a trilogy that was recorded over a three-year period during the pandemic.
When reflecting on the creative process, Bey goes on to say:
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world… It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration”.
Additionally, Beyoncé credits her children, her parents, Jay-Z, and her uncle Jonny, who she calls her “godmother”, the person who introduced her to the music that inspired the album. RENAISSANCE features star-studded guest appearances by JAY-Z, Drake, The-Dream, Mike Dean, NOVAWAV, Tems, Hit-Boy, Pharrell Williams, Raphael Saadiq, Skrillex, Symbolic One, Sabrina Claudio, 070 Shake, and others.
The lead single, “Break My Soul,” made it clear that Beyoncé was ushering in a new era of dance music. Many expected RENAISSANCE to be a house album in the vein of Drake’s recent Honestly, Nevermind or Azealia Banks’ hip-house stylings. While there are definitely house influences on the album, RENAISSANCE takes us on a journey through the history of US clubbing, spanning a variety of dance genres such as New Orleans bounce, ’70s disco-funk, and Jersey club. As a result of Beyoncé revealing that the album is part of a trilogy recorded over three years during the pandemic, she indicated that it is a much more considered piece of work than its predecessors.
Though she has never been shy or looking to retire, this is Beyoncé at her most openly confident, and it inspires her fans to do the same. RENAISSANCE is hedonistic, erotic, experimental, and ultimately just great fun. It is solely a celebration and a call to arms for joy in a time when it has been noticeably lacking. Although Beyoncé has been teasing the album for a little over a month, fans suspected she was up to something way before the official announcement. She’s since made a name for herself in the “dance” realm with her Robin S.-inspired lead record, “Break My Soul”. Now that the album has arrived, take a look at the complete tracklist!

The RENAISSANCE is just beginning…. We are getting MORE as Beyoncé has a whole trilogy planned. What exactly that trilogy looks like, how it all fits together, and what the timeline for the next two acts will be, of course, remains under wraps. But when people refer to BEYONCÉ COMING as a cultural reset, this is no joke. Consider all of the scholarships that came with Lemonade, Beychella, and Homecoming – this is her influence, and this is what sets her apart. When the Queen of Culture decides it’s time for a cultural shift, it means that those of us who participate in the culture must engage with the change in order to adjust to our new surroundings. Because “Beyoncé moves with intention,” that intention is already visible in the collaborator credits on RENAISSANCE. It is expected to be a dance-focused album in which Beyoncé pays tribute to the dance music trailblazers who came before her.
