Rising artist Anubis has released his debut single and video titled “Candy“. Anubis is a 21-year-old rapper who is looking to make a name for himself with his own unique style and culture. Inspired by Anubis, the Egyptian God, the new-comer’s sound is oriented towards Western themes and the resting places of all his ancestors. “Candy” serves as part one of the ‘Anubis Saga’, as it introduces us to Djennie. She is the most important and powerful priestess to the God, Anubis.
In addition, the lyrics are underlined by his voice, which bears witness to the finest drops of worldly death gifts and medicinal herbs wrapped in papyrus papers. With jackal head and cobra sceptre, he thus crashes into the English-speaking rap scene to show who has the power not only in the afterlife but also in this world.
The production for this release was handled by Tengo, with the visual being directed by Martin Kuschan. “Candy” is also the directional debut for Martin and sets the tone for all future music videos he will have a hand in.
