The “ Hi, Cherelle” EP provides a classic Harlem sound. The tracks take you back to the origins of true hip hop echoing through the summer streets of New York. She Real opens her EP with lyrical vibes that intentionally honor the likes of the great Nina Simone. In identifying herself as Young, Gifted, and Black, she pays homage to the greats that have conquered the stage before her. Her wordplay and execution appear to be directly influenced by the legendary rapper “ Da Brat.” “Hi, Cherelle” promotes black excellence throughout the album by displaying her ability to be a strong and educated rapper that will definitely earn her spot-on billboards. Throughout the EP, you hear the musical inspiration of “Queen Latifah” in the track “Beautiful Day.” This track is without a doubt a summer cookout vibe that reminds you how magical black people are. Her unique sound and New York savviness provide an enjoyable listening experience from start to finish. There is no doubt that her streaming numbers will continue to rise as she takes her place as the next “Lyrical Queen of Hip Hop.” In the words of She Real, “ All Hail the Queen.”
