504Yung may be a new name in the hip-hop/rap world, but his latest single, “Directions,” featuring Icewear Vezzo proves that he belongs with elite class in the genre. The track, from his Rich Off Profit album, is a raw and real look into his life. “Honestly man, I was going through some stuff at that time. Everything that I put on wax, I just tell a little story about my life and what’s going on,” explains Yung. “It was just a little situation that I was going through and I put that down on wax.” As gripping as the lyrical content of “Directions,” is, the music video is a cinematic masterpiece that will draw viewers into the story with stunning story telling. “I literally made a story out of it. People thought I was just going to go for the regular video for it with just a regular shot where I’m in front of a car. But I went for the movie look.” 504yung goes on to explain that even from recording the track he knew just how the video was going to be. And his team made it come to life.

504yung has a very personal style when it comes to crafting his music, something that he learned early on was a must for his approach to songwriting. “I remember before, I kind of tip-toed around talking about the real. I would kind of fade away from talking about my real life. Just because I felt like people were going to judge me.” He goes on to say, “But then I got to a point where I just didn’t give a fuck no more. Everybody else, literally, saying whatever it is their going through and what’s going on, it’s like I might as well do it.”

While his song content is very real and personal, so is his method to creating his songs. 504yung does not write down his lyrics. Rather, he gets his inspiration from a good beat, and then stands behind the mic and delivers the goods. He use to write his lyrics in the early days, but he soon realized that the method did not suite his creativity. “It use to sound like a was reading back in the day when I use to write. Somethings I use to write use to be cool, but some shit was like man, I’m reading right now. I’m telling the story, but it’s like I’m in front of the class reading a book. So, I just wanted to do something different. It just felt, for me, more natural. It’s more authentic, you know.”

Even with the tremendous response from the track and video for, ”Directions,” 504yung is not stopping to smell the roses. He is currently preparing the follow-up to Rich Off Profit, Rich Off Profit II, which he states should be released in the next couple of weeks. But that is not all. 504yung has released a clothing line and is working on a short film, both sharing the Rich Off Profit title. He explains his intense work ethic by saying, “It’s so easy to get sidetracked and lose focus of the ultimate goal. I just try to keep busy and keep it going.” And keep going he does. 504yung will be performing at this year’s Rolling Festival California this December.
