HHW: Introduce yourself to our readers, let them know your name and where you’re from
Jay: My name is Jay Fattz and I’m from Westside Compton Ca.
HHW: Why did you start to do music?
Jay: When I was younger my mom used to Sing to me as a kid on Sunday mornings she would wake up and cook breakfast with the oldies playin I just fell in love with the music it was a kinda like therapy helped me calm my mood.
HHW: When did you know that it was actually going to be your career?
Jay: I knew it was time when the people around me started to believe in me. Shout out to Niew Money and Duke for really taking the initiative to put me in the right places and around the right people. Once I started getting good feedback from people that has been in the music industry for decades I knew this life was for me and I’m going to do everything in my power to achieve every goal set out.
HHW: If you could get advice from any artist in the industry, who would it be and why?
Jay: Most def it would be Nipsey Hussle why ? Because where we raised it’s easy to get caught in images and bullshit politics and despite how far he came no matter how many things he accomplished he stayed true to the people around him ,what he believed in , but most importantly hisself and that’s hard to stumble across in this day and age.
HHW: What or who influences your music?
Jay: My reality is the one of the biggest influences in my music sometimes it’s hard to express myself verbally most of the time it’ll always lead to confrontation and I try to stay away from that with family and friends so I like to use my music as messages not only to others but also to myself.
HHW: Has anyone helped you or guided you in getting your foot in the industry?
Jay: My Manager Lijuan Stephens of UnderDog Visuals has been taking me to industry events. We went to the Revolt Summit this year where I was able to make a few connections and network. Also, just being in the right places goes a long way. Sometimes just being in the room with the right people will speak for itself.
HHW: What differentiates you from other artists?
Jay: I would say my versatility I’m eager to work on new styles and different beats that’s out the norm how can something be unique if it’s always the same you gotta change it up every now and then keep the listeners on there toes.
HHW: Have you ever released an album?
Jay: Nah I haven’t released an album yet I’m working on it as we speak but you can go and get my debut mixtape titled Rookie of the Year
HHW: Are you currently on any tours or have any future shows booked?
Jay: Just did a few shows with Slim400 as the headliner. Right now my main focus is making quality music. When It’s show time I want the world to be able to tell I came prepared.
HHW: How can promoters looking to book you get in contact with you?
Jay: Promoters can reach me on my Social Media. All my info is in my Bio. Instagram Jay.fattz and Twitter Bluestripfattz.
HHW: What do you hope to get out of your involvement in the music industry?
Jay: I want to be able to be respected in this industry not just for my talent, but making smart business moves. I watched Nipsey, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Jay Z really flip the whole music thing and become business moguls off the music platform they built. That’s really the ultimate goal.
