The Weeknd becomes an anime character. The Canadian singer shared his new music video for “Snowchild”, his latest single off his chart-topping After Hours album. The animated visual showcases Abel’s different phases as he looks back at his career and where it all started. From the House of Balloons era to his Starboy phase, the animated version of the singer is even being followed in several cities, including Los Angeles, Tokyo and his hometown, Toronto. Fans will be able to catch a few references here and there as the singer utilizes wordplay from his previous tracks throughout the song.
What’s even better about this particular music video is that it was directed by Japan’s D’ART Shtajio studio, the first black-owned animation studio in Japan.
While The Weekend is still in animated mode (his voice will appear on the Season 10 finale of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken), he recently had to reschedule the dates for his The After Hours Tour for the summer and fall of 2021.
